Looking back at time, My journey with VITeach began in my second year of B.Tech. towards social work. After researching various clubs at VIT Chennai, I discovered VITeach. Their motto, their unique approach, and the inspiring seniors leading the club drew me in, immediately. With a desire towards the field of social work I joined VITeach in August or September of 2021, filled with curiosity and enthusiasm! The office bearers from that period, who were our seniors, have inspired me a lot! Their dedication, the way they interacted with juniors, and their overall approach created a welcoming and homely atmosphere. During the phase when the world was operating online, our primary task was content creation for volunteers who were preparing to visit the schools. As a member of the school team, I contributed by creating PPTs and other materials. At that point, it was all about making meaningful contributions, no matter how small.
Everything changed when I joined the Junior Core Committee (JCC). This period marked a significant shift as we transitioned to more active participation and organized events. It significantly boosted my confidence in social interactions and public speaking.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey was visiting the schools to teach younger children. This started in the late second year and went on in third year. The joy of teaching, of making a tangible difference in the lives of these kids, is indescribable. It’s a surreal feeling that is hard to find. VITeach offered me an opportunity to contribute to society while building deep connections. I proudly identify myself as a VITeacher, inspired by the unique and inspiring work we do sets us apart from others!
Serving as the General Secretary came with its own set of responsibilities. I gained skills in team management, event planning, and coordination with various domains. These experiences not only made me a better leader but also equipped me with skills that proved beneficial in other areas of my life, including internships. The team coordination skills I honed at VITeach were directly applicable in professional settings, showcasing the practical value of my experiences.
While graduating, I knew that VITeach will always hold a special place in my heart. The experiences and lessons had an impact by shaping my personal and professional growth in ways I never imagined. I am grateful for every moment spent with VITeach and for the lifelong friends I’ve made. The sense of fulfillment and pride in being a VITeacher is something I will carry with me always.
